At guild this week, Jen taught an amazing class in paper piecing. She is a wonderful teacher! I made most of this crazy heart block during our meeting; just had the four white corners to do when I got home. It's a pretty simple block...but just the same, I was embarassingly pleased with myself that it came out so darn perfectly.
Jen's instruction made the process so easy and intuitive. I LOVE the fact that you can use scraps and it doesn't really matter what shape or size they are (as long as they are big enough of course) -- hello? No precise cutting? I'm in.
Learning a new skill is so wonderful, it opens up all kinds of new worlds for creative expression. I know I will be paper piecing again soon.
We went apple picking this weekend; here's about 10% of the haul. The photo on the top was actually taken by R at our local pizza place with his KidiZoom camera. The postcard on the bottom is from a dear, departed, and sadly lamented New York restaurant, Florent. You can't really see from this photo, but the stomach has various spaces designated for "leeks," "creme caramel," "mustard," and "escargot" -- just the essentials.
